This is no easy task. Things get even more difficult when information for each one of these items is stored in different locations, excel files with accounting systems, paper spreadsheets, faxes, and email orders. The list goes on. There is a good reason why web based inventory tools are viscerally rejected by the kitchen and bar, and only used by accounting once per month.
