According to a Cooking Trends Among Millennials study by Google, 59% of 25-34 year-olds use smartphones or tablets in the kitchen and “how to cook that” is one of the ten most popular how-to searches on YouTube. This demand for food-related content presents an important opportunity for restaurants and chefs to speak directly to a captive audience using social media.
Live streaming media has become an important part of the social media landscape. Live streaming video has been adopted by multiple social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram and streaming video is expected to jump to 82% of overall internet traffic by 2020 according to Business Insider and Cisco’s June 2016 Visual Networking Index report. As people adopt these technologies, marketing professionals and business owners are finding creative ways to use video and live streaming to reach consumers.
